Arad, the architect of the September 11 Memorial in New York, designed a courtyard to honor the nine victims and five survivors of the 2015 shooting at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church.
For several years on the anniversary of 9/11, a pair of temporary light beams were projected heavenward as luminous reminders of the attacks on the Twin Towers.
