‘Growing Rowhouses’ by architect Ho-gyeum Kim takes top prize in the American Institute of Steel Construction’s annual award program for conceptual designs. 

Among those recognized by the Academy are Farshid Moussavi, Neri&Hu, and Andrés Jaque.

The Chengdu-based architect is the second Pritzker Prize laureate hailing from China.

Both held yearly since the early 1980s, Emerging Voices and the League Prize will now be held on alternating years, allowing the League to dedicate additional resources to both. 

The Japanese firm will be celebrated in London on May 1.

The winning project will be announced in a May 5 ceremony at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

The theme brings the issue of resource use and scarcity to the center of the architectural conversation.

Best known for his public memorials, the British architect joins past laureates including Michael Graves, Thomas Beeby, and Robert A.M. Stern.
