The program offers an exclusive look at the urban development of Rome through the ages, with a particular focus on ancient Rome: building materials, topography, projects of urban renewal and expansion over 1000 years. The program is directed by classical archaeologist, Dr. Darius Arya, who has lived, taught, and excavated in Rome over 25 years. With Italian colleagues in architecture conservation we will also include insights into the medieval through Fascist eras through a series of exclusive on site visits. Mornings are dedicated to lectures. Afternoons are for exploration and sketching/ painting/ photography, directed in a series of sketch outings led by NCSU School of design faculty.
