This one hour program explores the art of terra cotta, beginning with a quick overview of the manufacturing process, covering the natural variation in clay tile along with the glazing techniques to achieve the desired color. This course also focuses on the color selection and matching process to custom and historic profiles. The course provides several case studies comparing the original tiles to the new terra cotta replacements.
Learning Objectives:
- Communicate the various color opportunities and capabilities through the discussion of standard colors, glazing techniques, custom color development and color by hues.
- Discuss overall expectations with clients regarding color matching for historic and new traditional roofs, natural color variations, color blending and sampling.
- Discover the step by step color matching process for both custom and historic projects.
