The Finnish capital gives another go at bringing a museum to its revitalized South Harbor following the spectacular flame-out of a plan to build a Guggenheim outpost in the area.
The 55,000-square-foot addition will break ground next year in conjunction with the wildly popular museum’s tenth anniversary, with plans to open to the public just ahead of L.A.’s 2028 Summer Olympics.
The jury applauded the architect, who will be presented with the prize this coming weekend, for designing “beautiful and durable buildings with a nuanced elegance that moves the spirit of all who experience them.”
Pascale Sablan, Lucy Tilley, and Kofi Bio have been named as CEOs of the firm’s New York, London, and Accra studios, respectively, while David Adjaye will assume the role of executive chair.
