The associate director of Columbia University’s Buell Center steps into the role vacated by Rosalie Genevro beginning in September. 

More than 70 creative practitioners hailing from Chicago and beyond will partake in the biennial’s neighborhood-spanning fifth edition kicking off September 21.

Design commissions for the Shelburne Museum and Kiran Nadar Museum of Art are announced and make their Venice Architecture Biennale debuts, respectively.

The Japanese architect said his design for the annual commission began “with a desire to create a sense of eternity within Melbourne’s garden oasis.”

The grant, which will support programs focused on healthy cities and sustainability, is the largest single gift received by the New York nonprofit in its 21-year history. 

This year's awardees include young practitioners hailing from Chicago, Boston, Albuquerque, and beyond.
