Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Beartooth Mountains, a surprisingly intimate structure of vertical pine logs offers a serene place of respite for visitors to the arts center.
Depending upon visitors’ angle of approach, the structure either announces its presence boldly or hides behind an unassuming party wall—which more or less sums up the guiding principles around its design.
OMA’s design for the addition, unveiled today, neither competes with, nor defers to the SANAA building. With a simple but dynamic origami-like form, it takes cues from its predecessor while addressing its deficiencies.
