Housing its collection in a series of interlocking volumes, the new museum replaces an older facility on the campus of Penn State. 

Set to open in November, the expressed steel building designed by Weiss/Manfredi is the centerpiece of the $250-million Longwood Reimagined project.

Beginning with a group of 23 Chinese architects who studied at Penn in the 1920s, the show looks back at a century of mutual influences.

The design includes a 32,000-square-foot glass house and the reconstruction and preservation of Roberto Burle Marx's Cascade Garden.
