Raspberry Pi
Alarmed by the decline of computer science skills among British children, Eben Upton and his team at the University of Cambridge’s Computer Laboratory created a $25, credit card-sized computer. The Raspberry Pi plugs into a TV and keyboard and can perform many of the same functions as a normal home computer, including high-definition video, word processing, and games. So far, more than a million of these devices have been distributed in hopes of empowering youth through programming and technology.

Copenhagen Climate Adaptation Plan
After costly flooding in 2011 and an estimated 30 percent increase in future rainfall, the city of Copenhagen, Denmark created a proactive master plan to tackle future climate challenges. The Climate Adaption Plan includes infrastructure that both diverts and incorporates rainwater into the fabric of the city. Green spaces will absorb rainwater, while underground pipes will channel water into the sea. The plan also includes warning and response systems to deal with emergency weather conditions.
