In a statement on Tuesday evening, Kent Kleinman, dean of the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University, announced that the new gift from Richard Meier to name the chair of the Department of Architecture would no longer be accepted, in response to allegations of sexual misconduct on the part of Meier, as reported in the New York Times. The gift from Meier, who earned his B.Arch from Cornell in 1956, had been announced in January.
Kleinman’s statement continued, "We will swiftly explore what additional actions are appropriate with regard to endowments for professorships and scholarships previously donated to Cornell.”
