May 2017 Product Briefs: Roofing Products
Utilize any of these basic solutions for a well-protected, beautiful, and long-lasting roof.

Custom Roofing Panels
The Holy Resurrection Chapel (2016), at the Gardens at Gethsemane cemetery in Boston, was designed in the classic Byzantine style by architect Yervant Nahikian, with a multifaceted dome clad in 24 custom zinc panels from Rheinzink. The blue-gray metal—also used on the building’s half-round barrel vaults and sloping triangular elements—enhances its stone exterior.

FrostGuard
This preassembled heating cable from Raychem protects roofs and gutters against ice dams and icicle buildup and reduces the risks of freezing and bursting within pipes. Ideal for small roofs, porches, overhangs, and metal or plastic pipes, the system includes self-regulating technology to ensure heat is only emitted when and where needed. Available for 120V and 240V installations.

SolarHide
This one-step radiant barrier underlayment from DaVinci Roofscapes also serves as a vapor barrier. Roofers using a single layer of SolarHide in conjunction with DaVinci Shakes, Slate, and Bellaforté products can attain a Class A fire rating. Made from raw materials, SolarHide is produced with woven and nonwoven fabrics as well as pure aluminum. The underlayment is 100 percent recyclable and exceeds Miami-Dade specifications.

JTS 1 Sealant
This sealant from Mule-Hide allows contractors to easily seal large joints and roof termination bars, even those submerged in water. Available in eight colors, this moisture cure urethane sealant contains no solvents and adheres to EPDM and PVC membranes, concrete, masonry, wood, vinyl, and other common materials. Primer is required when using it on TPO roof membranes.

Sedona Canyon
To help homeowners choose a shingle color, Owens Corning introduced the Shingle Color of the Year program. This year’s winner was Sedona Canyon, selected for its resemblance to real wood shakes. The asphalt composition shingles’ subtle shades—burnt umber, chestnut, butterscotch, and twists of blue-gray—pair with a range of fashion-forward and traditional colors.
