Shohei Shigematsu is a partner at OMA, based out of the New York office. He has been a driving force behind many of OMA’s projects, leading the firm’s diverse portfolio in Japan and the Americas for the past decade. He is responsible for delivering a number of cultural projects across North America including a new building for the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the renovation and reimagination of Sotheby’s New York Headquarters. In progress are expansions for the the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York and the New Museum in Manhattan. Shigematsu has collaborated with multiple artists including Cai Guo-Qiang, Marina Abramović, Kanye West, and Taryn Simon, and has designed exhibitions for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Prada, the Venice Architecture Biennale, and Park Avenue Armory. His scenography for Dior retrospectives was showcased at the Denver Art Museum (2018) and the Dallas Museum of Art (2019), and is currently on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
